Keep rental availability synchronized with Google Calendar

WP Booking System connects your WordPress booking calendar with Google Calendar using standard iCalendar (.ics) import and export feeds. Booked or blocked dates from WP Booking System can appear in Google Calendar, while events from Google Calendar can be imported into WP Booking System to block availability.

This is designed for date-based rental bookings, making it useful for holiday homes, cabins, villas, campsites, boats, vehicles, equipment and other businesses that need to keep availability aligned across more than one calendar.

The connection uses iCalendar feeds rather than a native Google Calendar API. WP Booking System refreshes imported iCal feeds hourly by default, while Google Calendar controls how often it refreshes calendars subscribed through iCal. Because of this, synchronization is automatic but not instant real-time.

How two-way Google Calendar sync works

To synchronize availability in both directions, you connect the two calendars using their iCalendar feeds:

  1. WP Booking System → Google Calendar: add your WP Booking System export URL as a subscribed calendar in Google Calendar.
  2. Google Calendar → WP Booking System: copy the Google Calendar iCal URL and add it as an import feed to the appropriate WP Booking System calendar.
  3. Keep availability aligned: imported events can be mapped to your Booked or unavailable legend item so those dates cannot be booked again through your website.

For detailed setup instructions, see our guide to syncing WP Booking System with Google Calendar or read more about importing and synchronizing iCalendar feeds .

Benefits of syncing your WordPress booking calendar with Google Calendar

Keep rental availability organized across WordPress and Google Calendar without manually copying booked dates between calendars.

Two-way availability sync

Export booked dates from WP Booking System to Google Calendar and import Google Calendar events back into WP Booking System. This lets both calendars contribute to your overall availability.

Help prevent double bookings

Dates imported from Google Calendar can automatically block availability in WP Booking System. This is particularly useful when the same rental is managed through several calendars.

See your bookings in Google Calendar

Subscribe to your WP Booking System calendar from Google Calendar so booked dates are visible alongside the rest of your calendar, including on devices where you already use Google Calendar.

Manage multiple rental calendars

Add multiple iCalendar feeds and keep them clearly named, making it easier to manage separate properties, rooms, vehicles, equipment or other rentable resources.

Automatic iCal refreshes

WP Booking System refreshes imported iCalendar feeds automatically and uses an hourly refresh interval by default. You can also manually refresh imported iCal data when needed.

Works with the iCalendar standard

The integration uses the widely supported iCalendar (.ics) format, which also makes WP Booking System suitable for synchronizing availability with other platforms that provide compatible iCal feeds.

What syncs with Google Calendar?

Google Calendar integration is designed primarily to synchronize availability. It does not replace the booking management features inside WP Booking System.

Common questions

Does WP Booking System sync with Google Calendar?

Yes. WP Booking System connects with Google Calendar using iCalendar (.ics) feeds, allowing booked and blocked dates to stay aligned across both calendars.

Is the Google Calendar sync two-way?

Yes, you can set up two-way availability sync. Add the WP Booking System export feed to Google Calendar, then add the Google Calendar iCal feed back into WP Booking System. This keeps booked and unavailable dates aligned in both directions.

What exactly gets synced with Google Calendar?

iCalendar sync focuses on availability, primarily booked and blocked dates. Prices, payment information, customer details and the full WP Booking System booking record are not synchronized with Google Calendar.

How often does Google Calendar sync update? Is it real-time?

The synchronization is not instant real-time. WP Booking System refreshes imported iCal feeds hourly by default, and you can manually refresh imported data using the “Refresh iCal Data” button. Google Calendar controls how often it refreshes subscribed iCalendar feeds, so exported changes may take some time to appear there.

How do I connect WP Booking System to Google Calendar?

First, copy the export iCal URL from your WP Booking System calendar and subscribe to it in Google Calendar. For two-way availability sync, copy the Google Calendar iCal URL and add it to WP Booking System under iCal Import/Export for the appropriate calendar.

See our Google Calendar synchronization guide for the complete setup steps.

Can I sync multiple Google Calendars or multiple booking calendars?

Yes. You can add multiple iCalendar feeds in WP Booking System. For example, you can maintain separate feeds for different properties, rooms, vehicles, equipment or external calendars.

My updates don’t show in Google Calendar. What should I check?

If you are importing Google Calendar into WP Booking System, use “Refresh iCal Data” to manually refresh the imported feed. If dates exported from WP Booking System have not yet appeared in Google Calendar, remember that Google controls how often it refreshes subscribed iCalendar feeds.

For additional help, see our iCalendar troubleshooting guide .

Imported events show as “Available” instead of “Booked”. How do I fix it?

Remove the iCal feed and add it again, then set “Import iCal Events As” to your “Booked” or other unavailable legend item. This tells WP Booking System which availability status should be used for dates imported from that feed.

Do I need the Premium version for Google Calendar sync?

Yes. iCalendar Import, Export and Sync are Premium features of WP Booking System.
